To access your ELD seamlessly with ELD Desired, download the designated logbook app to your preferred device.
Your fleet manager will provide you with a username and password, which you will use to log into your account. This ensures smooth and secure access to your electronic logging device.
Hardware
- Ensure you have the correct cable for your vehicle.
- Connect the cable to the ELD and then to your vehicle’s diagnostic port.
Note: The diagnostic port is typically found under the dashboard or on the floor next to the driver’s seat.
- Secure the device to the dashboard or the side of the cabin for optimal stability and performance
ELD Desired Malfunction Manual
Malfunction Indication:
Promptly notify support if the LED light on the ELD device fails to illuminate when connected to the diagnostic port, or if any malfunctions are reported by the application.
Note The Malfunction:
Record details of the malfunction and issue a written notice to your fleet within 24 hours of detection.
Switch To Backup Logs:
Utilize paper logs for the day of the malfunction and until the ELD device is repaired or replaced. During inspections, be prepared to present the previous 7 days of records from the application.
8-Day Rule:
Upon discovery of an ELD malfunction, the motor carrier must initiate corrective actions within 8 days to rectify the issue.
Logs
Navigate to the “Logs” section in the menu to view your current logs and those from the past 14 days.
You can tap on a specific status to edit it, though previous statuses cannot be deleted. Note that the driving time recorded by the ELD is immutable.
Certified logs can be edited, but this will invalidate the certification, necessitating recertification after any changes.
Be aware that edits may lead to HOS violations; the system will notify you in such instances but will not prevent the edit.

ELD DESIRED Inspection Mode
For ELD Desired Functionality
- Navigate to the “DOT Inspection” option in the menu and tap “Start Inspection”.
- Allow the inspector to view your electronic logs directly from your mobile device. Present this instruction card if requested.
During Inspection
- The inspector can navigate through previous or subsequent day’s logs by pressing the arrows.
- The inspector can access the log form, log graph, and log events with associated notes.
Exiting Inspection Mode
- To exit the inspection mode, press the back arrow located in the top left corner of the application.
For Send Logs
- To transmit ELD records, the ELD system supports two telematics transfer methods: Wireless Web services and Email. To send records via Web services, drivers should select the “DOT Inspection” menu item and then tap the “Send Logs” button. Alternatively, to send records via Email, drivers should select the “DOT Inspection” menu item, choose “Email Logs”, enter the email address provided by an authorized safety official, and then press the “Send” button.
